Brad Armstrong awarded King Charles III Coronation Medal

Edmonton, AB – Brad Armstrong, Vice-President, Qualico Communities Edmonton, was recently awarded a King Charles III Coronation Medal for his personal and professional contributions to the community.

The Canadian government established the commemorative medal to honour the King’s Coronation and recognize citizens who make a significant contribution in the areas of service, the environment and sustainability, and Canada’s diversity.

Brad was surprised to learn of his nomination and the award ceremony when he received a letter from the Honourable Dale Nally, Alberta’s Minister of Service and Red Tape Reduction, who had nominated Brad for the medal. Brad received the medal at the Feb. 18 ceremony and said it was a great honour and very humbling.

“It meant that my work at Qualico and within the community was having an impact and was getting noticed,” Brad said. “I feel blessed to be working with a team and company that allows us to give back to society in a meaningful way through volunteerism and financial support of the local communities we help to build. It’s one of the many ways we help build better cities.”

Brad’s tenure as a leader at Qualico Communities and his time as a member and chair of the Board of Directors at Kids With Cancer Society (KWCS) were two major factors that earned him the medal.

He has also represented Qualico in the company’s philanthropic efforts with Habitat for Humanity, the West Edmonton Dialysis Unit with the University of Alberta Hospital Foundation, and the Bridge Healing Program for Transitional Housing with the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation, as well as many other local charities and community groups around the region.

Brad noted that he was inspired to work with KWCS because of the kids and families from the Northern Alberta region who were struggling with the impacts of cancer diagnosis and treatment.

“KWCS provides these kids and their families with a variety of supports and programming to help them cope with this terrible disease in many different ways,” he said. “I felt I could contribute to the financial stability and sustainability of the organization to ensure it is around for the long term.”

Brad has been instrumental in advancing Qualico’s mission and supporting the broader community. At Qualico Communities Edmonton, Brad has built a strong team and played a key role in pioneering large new communities in the region, such as Riverview, Marquis, and Bremner.

Brad noted that although it’s a great honour to be recognized with a medal, it’s not the reason he puts in the time and effort for these organizations and causes.

“I have had this wonderful career, and I am in a position to help families in their time of need,” he explained. “I have also come to the realization that the work we do at the community level is often an investment that inspires those who are on the receiving end today to give back to other people who are in need in the future.”

Congratulations to Brad on this well-deserved and inspiring achievement that helps highlight the positive impact in giving back to the community.
