Building A Sustainable Future
We understand that sustainable cities are the result of a highly collaborative effort across government, public and private business, and social causes. We work to ensure that our planning and development of communities, our building methods, and our consumption and production of building materials consider how we build sustainably.
We support organizations that are working towards improving how our cities are designed,
built and lived in.
At Qualico, we are committed to building a sustainable future for generations to come and our vision is to be a leader in sustainable building practices, contributing to a healthier and more sustainable future for our planet.

Our mission
is to minimize the environmental impact of our projects by implementing
sustainable practices in all aspects of our operations.
Building Sustainably at Qualico
Net Zero &
Net Zero Ready Homes
A demonstration of our commitment to Helping Build Better Cities in our mission of building sustainably is embedded in our Net Zero and Net Zero Ready Homes. As part of our building better cities and sustainability commitments, Qualico continues to advance building practices by offering a CHBA Net Zero Qualified Builder in each province that we build in.

What does Net Zero mean?
A Net Zero Home is “is designed and built to produce as much renewable energy as it consumes over the course of a year.” The goal of a Net Zero Home is to achieve a balance between energy usage and energy production.
A Net Zero Ready Home “is built to the exact same efficiency standards as Net Zero Homes – only without the renewable energy system in place.”
Sterling Homes Winnipeg is the first homebuilder in Winnipeg and the second in Manitoba to obtain the Canadian Home Builders' Association (CHBA) net-zero ready certification for its single-family detached home at 54 Siskin Bay, which was completed this summer. The accomplishment aligns with Qualico's commitment to sustainability and innovation and demonstrates Sterling Homes Winnipeg’s position as an industry leader offering energy-efficient options to its customers.
Langley’s Willoughby neighbourhood is getting closer to having the first-ever net zero ready townhomes in the Fraser Valley. StreetSide Developments BC has been working on its Cascadia community there – which will have a mix of net zero ready and standard townhomes – since the official groundbreaking in January.
Contributing to Qualico’s goal to have a Net Zero certified builder in each of its markets, Sterling Homes Calgary has become Qualico’s first registered and certified Net Zero builder in Calgary with their newest showhome located in the Qualico Community of Vermilion Hill.
Foxridge Homes BC is busy building the first net-zero home in the brand’s history, as well as the first of this type of home in the Township of Langley. Located in the Westbrooke community, the home will be built to meet Step Code 5 of the BC Energy Step Code, as well as comply with the technical requirements of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) Net Zero Home Labelling Program.
Sterling Homes Edmonton has become a BUILT GREEN certified homebuilder, earning recognition for building more sustainable, more affordable, and healthier homes.
